Our Purpose

No pet leaves a mark quite like your first one. Most people grow up with a family dog or adopt one in their twenties. My experience was different. In high school, my girlfriend and I brought home a chocolate Lab puppy without my parents’ permission. It was impulsive, chaotic, and completely unforgettable. That girlfriend is now my wife, and Brody was with us for every chapter we lived through together.

He was there through high school, college, our first apartment, and eventually the fifteen acre ranch where we built Project Barnyard, the nonprofit equine sanctuary my wife had dreamed of since she was young. By the time we moved, Brody was older and slower, but he remained the heart of our little family.

A few months after settling into the ranch, we lost him to cancer. Nothing prepares you for the moment the timeline you imagined disappears. I believed we had years left of more hikes, road trips, adventures, and memories. Instead, his life was cut short, and that experience changed the way we thought about caring for the animals we love.

Pets don’t get to choose their diet, their supplements, their medications, or the everyday products we give them. They rely on us to make decisions that support their long term health, not just temporary comfort. Losing Brody made us realize how much of that responsibility we had taken for granted and how often pet parents are left navigating confusing choices without the clarity they deserve.

The Brody Co was built from that realization, not only to honor him, but as a commitment to proactive, transparent, and holistic care. We believe pet parents should feel confident in what they give their animals. We believe preventative wellness matters. We believe love is responsibility.

Brody is the reason this brand exists. His life reminded us what animals mean to us as humans. His loss taught us what they need from us in return.
