Glucosamine HCl
The cornerstone of joint nutrition. A natural building block for cartilage and the synovial fluid that cushions the joint. We use the HCl form because it carries more actual glucosamine per milligram than the sulfate form.

Why it matters
It can take up to 30 days to see changes in your pup. Consistency is key.
What's inside
No proprietary blends, no hiding behind a total. Here is exactly what is in every 2.2 gram chew and exactly what each one does.
The cornerstone of joint nutrition. A natural building block for cartilage and the synovial fluid that cushions the joint. We use the HCl form because it carries more actual glucosamine per milligram than the sulfate form.
Bioavailable sulfur, one of the raw materials the body needs to build and maintain healthy connective tissue. It also supports normal recovery after a hard day of being a dog.
Not an afterthought. Vitamin C is a required cofactor for collagen synthesis, so the body physically cannot assemble collagen without it. It is here to make everything else in the formula work harder.
Glucosamine's partner. Chondroitin helps cartilage stay hydrated and resilient, the cushion between the bones that absorbs every landing.
One of the most studied botanicals for supporting a normal, balanced inflammatory response. Certified organic, and dosed for daily maintenance rather than an occasional boost.
A small ingredient doing double duty. Yucca's natural saponins support comfortable movement while helping the body absorb more of everything else in the chew.
Naturally sourced collagen from eggshell membrane, the same structural protein found in your dog's own cartilage, tendons and ligaments, delivered in a form the body already recognises.
Natural-source vitamin E, not the cheaper synthetic dl- form most budget supplements use. Antioxidant protection for tissue that takes a daily beating.
Other ingredients: Oat flour, palm fruit oil, rice bran, rice flour, natural duck and pea flavor, flaxseed, natural chicken flavor, sunflower lecithin, powdered cellulose (coating only), coconut glycerin, sorbic acid, mixed tocopherols, rosemary extract.
Note: This chew uses an oat and rice base for structure and digestibility. Our Freeze-Dried Chicken Liver Treats are single-ingredient and grain-free.
The difference
Most soft chews on the market are extruded and cooked. Heat is fast and cheap, and it degrades exactly the compounds you are paying for.
Extrusion pushes a wet dough through heat and pressure. It is efficient. It also denatures proteins and degrades heat-sensitive actives before the chew ever reaches the jar.
We use a no-water, no-heat process. Every ingredient goes in at full strength and stays there, which means the amount on the label is the amount doing the work.
Skipping the heat also preserves the flavour profile. That is why most dogs take this as a treat rather than something you have to hide in food.
Honest comparison
Against a typical extruded joint chew sold at the same price point.
| Attribute | The Brody Co | Typical joint chew |
|---|---|---|
| Glucosamine per chew | 200 mg, HCl form | Often 100 to 150 mg, or unlabelled |
| Manufacturing | No water, no heat | Extruded and cooked |
| Ingredient transparency | Every active labelled in mg | Often a proprietary blend |
| Vitamin E form | Natural d-alpha tocopherol | Usually synthetic dl- |
| Facility | SQF certified, FDA registered | Varies, often undisclosed |
| Freshness system | Rosemary extract, mixed tocopherols | Frequently BHA or BHT |
